Why MFA is important
A stolen password alone should not be enough to access business email, cloud files or administration portals. MFA adds another proof of identity.
Not all methods are equal
Authenticator apps, number matching, passkeys and hardware security keys generally provide stronger protection than SMS in higher-risk situations.
Watch for MFA fatigue
Attackers may send repeated prompts hoping a user approves one to stop the noise. Unexpected prompts should be denied and reported.
Protect recovery and administrator accounts
Review recovery details, remove old authentication methods, use separate administrator accounts and apply stronger controls to privileged access.
Review sign-ins, not just settings
Unfamiliar locations, devices, legacy authentication or impossible travel patterns can reveal an account problem that needs investigation.
